Way Back When radio programs were aired from the late 20's through the early 60's there was more plentiful variety in the shows that were on, compared to entertainment forms these days.

This time, spanning 40 years, was known as the Golden Age of Radio. Here are just some of the variety of shows that generation listened to, in some of the categories offered here at Way Back When:

You'll find within these webpages a growing inventory of over 23,000 old time radio shows, either available now or to be added, with more
coming all of the time. In other words, a never ending flow of adventurous, family-friendly entertainment.

Why become a part of the audience at Way Back When?

We want you to become a part of the community. We are striving to bring sponsors to these shows, just like during the Golden Age of Radio. Whether these businesses sponsor an entire program, a single episode, or just offer to support the site with their exclusive deals for WBW listeners, we are hoping to bring the community and its businesses together within this wholesome environment.

We are hoping that listeners will in turn help support these businesses by accepting their exclusive offers and frequent their establishments as a way of thanking them for supporting and sponsoring Way Back When.

While most of these programs are of good sound quality, every once in a while a program will fall short of good quality, but will still be tolerable to listen.

On the home page will be our Top 10 most listened to shows of the previous month, in case you have trouble choosing what to listen to yourself.

As we grow the site, we'll add information about the shows, the actors and the era.

We welcome you, both first time and expert old time radio listener, to Way Back When, and we hope you enjoy the show!

All Our Best,

      Hello Bill:

If you click on Shows up on the top right NavBar, it takes you to the categories page. From there you can choose what category of shows you’d like to listen to. The main categories page will list the series we have, both available now and upcoming. From there you can click on any series, which will take you to a list of episodes for the series you’ve chosen. Clicking on show titles will take you to the page for that episode, and from there it is just a matter of clicking the play button and enjoying!

      Thanks for listening!
      Dennis

    Hi,

Thank you for building this archive, I love old time radio shows I remember listening to CBS’s Radio Mystery Theater back in the late ’70’s and ’80’s. I used to have some commercially sold cassette recordings but these wore out but not before I got my son interested in the old shows and your archive will keep the old shows alive way into the future! I have one question, how do I download and save the shows?

    Thank you.

Thank you for your support of our efforts, Joe!

We work constantly to keep Old Time Radio alive. Future plans include novelizations and film adaptations of the shows. Right now, in answer to your question, we only have the shows available for streaming from the site. We are working on creating downloadable versions of the shows. Keep in touch and we’ll let you know when they become available for download. For now, enjoy the shows!
